Why we built stockthemes.ai

We're investment data scientists that have spent the last several years covering hedge fund teams across sector verticals—tech, energy, consumer, industrials, media, and more. To keep up, we've had to quickly map niche markets to their constituents: which stocks move on which narratives, hand-crafting hundreds of theme-specific equity baskets weighted by exposure, with tools across market cap and geographies—because LLMs still miss delisted tickers, private companies, and inaccurate descriptions. Understanding narrative performance has helped us grasp how groups rotate in and out of favor; tracking overarching themes reveals patterns that, for us, beat managing individual stocks. With Claude Code, we moved this work from a slow Plotly dashboard into stockthemes.ai—a fast app sharing the hundreds of themes we've built over the years, with daily performance and the companies driving each trend—built to navigate markets from a narrative lens. For now, browse the themes and explore the site.

Your feedback via comments and polls inform our roadmap going forward.

Join the Field of Themes newsletter at the bottom of the page: a 5–10 minute weekly read on actionable themes other outlets miss—we cover which themes are impacted by events, what to watch for inflecting narratives, and difficult topics in plain language. Written by us, not AI-generated copy.

What is a theme basket?

A theme basket is a curated set of public stocks connected by a common narrative, such as AI infrastructure, obesity treatment, or grid modernization.

The form is three layers: Groups, themes, and constituents. A Group is the macro umbrella—the big idea (for example, Space Supply Chain). Themes are the specific angles inside it (launch services, satellite components, geospatial intelligence). Each theme page is the basket itself: public tickers, weights, performance, and a changelog when holdings change. Browse groups to orient; open a theme when you want the full list of names tied to a narrative.

Baskets are built by hand after extensive research—not auto-generated from a prompt. We review company filings, earnings commentary, product roadmaps, and initiative-level signals to map which public companies are actually exposed to each theme. General-purpose LLM lists often miss this: non-public names, stale narratives, or exposure that no longer matches what companies are doing today.

Missing a narrative or think a basket needs updating? Use our suggestion form to propose a new group, a new theme, or edits to an existing basket (sign-in required). We review every submission.

Vision

stockthemes.ai is your check-in for the themes that matter—the data and news behind each narrative, and which tickers in those baskets are most exposed when the theme moves. Today you can search tickers and themes, follow our trending list, and read recent commentary.

We are building toward a one-stop surface: news and catalysts tied to each basket, structured company context from filings and earnings, and Blast Radius—describe a potential event (policy, geopolitics, commodities, regulation) and see which themes and tickers look most positively or negatively exposed, grounded in our curated universe rather than a generic stock list.

Subscriber support on the MosaicBot roadmap funds these data layers. If you want to weigh in on what ships next, use the contact page or the Field of Themes newsletter.
